  • Sweet, soft flesh like a white peach, smooth skin of a nectarine
With Yumm Yumm™, all the sweetness and soft, melt–in–your–mouth texture of a white peach perfectly married with the smooth skin and fresh flavor of nectarines. Growing this variety means having your own dependable stock of sun–ripened, fresh–picked fruit in early summer (generally around June). The sweet taste shows up well in canning and baking. The surface of each nectarine is covered in an appetizing red blush. The tree thankfully has a good resistance to bacterial spot, a disease that typically causes stone–fruit growers a lot of stress. A self–pollinator with clingstone pits. Prunus persica 'Yumm Yumm'

  • pruningNectarine trees need to be pruned to optimize fruit production and allow sunlight into the tree. Most home gardeners do not prune their trees enough. Pruning encourages new growth and shapes the tree. Prune nectarines hard, removing most of the previous year's growth. Fruit will be produced on the previous year's wood, so leave enough to ensure a good crop, but not overburden the tree. Removing interior branches opens up the tree and allows light to penetrate to lower branches.
