There are so many advantages to patio and terrace gardening; you have fragrance and color where you entertain, you can change your palette every season, and caring for your plants is a breeze. Clematis breeders have responded to popular demand for large flowering varieties on smaller stature plants with cultivars that were only found in gardener's dreams a few years ago. Raymond Evison, renowned clematis breeder from Guernsey, specializes in these small but mighty plants and Kitty and Sarah Elizabeth are two of the best in in his Boulevard tm series. Katharina is a European introduction rarely found in North America, that adds wavy-edged sepals and a lively red-anthered center to the mix. Try these in containers, or in a patio border with a smaller (4') tuteur or obelisk. One creative idea is to add to a window box – they make the perfect "spiller". Includes one each of Clematis 'Katharina', C. 'Kitty', and C. 'Sarah Elizabeth'
