You can even keep this as a potted patio plant in zones 7-8, though you'll need to bring it into a garage for winter in zone 6. It's an overachiever when it comes to beauty, too. As a kousa dogwood, it blooms a little later in the season than any native varieties you have, followed by unusual, spiky red-orange fruits. It's a good fall feature, too, as the leaves change to red and scarlet. Here's a cool bonus, you can actually eat fruit from a kousa dogwood.
