Electric Love® Weigela gives gardeners bold contrast in a size that fits almost anywhere. This dwarf shrub grows about 1–2' tall and 2–3' wide, making it a strong choice for sunny border fronts, walkway edges, patio containers and small-space gardens.

Add Bold Color Without Blocking the View

Because Electric Love® stays low and rounded, it gives you shrub color without covering windows, crowding paths or overwhelming nearby perennials. Its compact mound works well as a front-of-border accent, a low edging plant or a “color button” in containers where taller shrubs would feel out of scale.

Get Red Blooms That Read Clearly

The flowers are a vivid, true red rather than pink-leaning. They appear from late spring into summer, and in many climates into late summer, creating bright color across the dark foliage. The tubular, bell-shaped blooms are produced in good quantity for the plant’s small size, so the whole mound can look dotted or washed with red at peak bloom.

Keep the Garden Interesting Between Blooms

Electric Love® does not rely on flowers alone. Its dark plum-purple to nearly black foliage holds well in full sun, giving the garden steady contrast through the growing season. Pair it with chartreuse, silver, bright green or variegated plants to make nearby colors look sharper and more intentional.

Enjoy Easy Color in Real-Life Conditions

Plant Electric Love® in full sun with average to moist, well-drained soil. It tolerates a range of soil types and pH as long as drainage is reasonable, and it shows good tolerance of urban pollution. Light pruning after flowering is usually enough to keep its tidy shape. Small dry fruits are not ornamental and do not create notable litter, so the shrub works well near patios, walks and other high-visibility spaces.
