  • The most fragrant clematis that exists
  • Dependable scent
  • Lovely sepals that pale in maturity
Even fragrant clematis don't always have a detectable smell; everything from the climate to the amount of sunlight can affect the strength of a clematis' scent. But Sugar Sweet Blue is the rare exception that is dependably fragrant in most gardens. In fact, this is the most fragrant clematis around. In addition to bringing a lovely scent to your garden, you'll love the periwinkle-purple flowers with their yellow centers that mature to a lighter, paler shade. The medium-to-large vine makes it perfect for training up a trellis or ambling through border gardens. Sugar Sweet Blue is a newer addition to the market, so it's unlikely you'll have seen it elsewhere. Clematis 'Delightful Scent' PPAF

In our EZ Pruning Guide, this variety is in the YELLOW pruning category. It blooms best on old vine. Use caution when pruning to retain healthy stems from last season for best flowering.
