Every day in the garden feels like a party with Clematis Maria Therese's striking candy-pink and white striped sepals. The lipstick pink and white is crisp with striking color contrast. Enjoy the classic tradition of English gardens with a stellar performer in North America. These early flowers have proven themselves in our Ohio test gardens. If other Clematis pink bi-colors have not grown well for you, you won't be disappointed by Maria Therese.

Striking in cut flower arrangement, Maria Therese pairs nicely with evergreen foliage like hemlock or spruce for beautiful simplicity. It also looks excellent planted in the mid-border, or sprawling over an arch or hedgerow.

Bred in New Zealand by industry legend Peer Sorensen, Maria Therese performs well in full sunlight, and it flowers on new and older vine after a hard winter. The flowers start the season in an attractively cupped form, then mature to more of a fully recurving flower form that beckons pollinators. This winner from down under starts the party in early spring and keeps flowering all season long. Clematis 'Maria Therese'

In our EZ Pruning Guide, this variety is in the YELLOW pruning category. It blooms best on old vine. Use caution when pruning to retain healthy stems from last season for best flowering.
