Bred in Poland by the renowned Szczepan Marczyński, Anna’s Choice offers three distinct bloom forms on one plant. Large blossoms in soft lilac to blush pink emerge as single flowers on new wood, while older stems produce semi-double and fully double forms. This makes the plant look like several clematis varieties in one, with waves of flower types arriving from late spring through early summer. Burgundy anthers create eye-catching contrast against pastel sepals, and the climbing habit is perfect for trellises and arbors.
One Plant, Three Flower Forms: Few clematis cultivars offer this level of variety. On fresh growth, you’ll get classic single flowers. But leave the old wood intact, and you’ll enjoy double and semi-double blooms in the next season—layered texture that keeps the garden interesting.
Soft Pastel Color and Rich Contrast: Each bloom brings gentle tones of pale lilac to blush pink, enhanced by deep burgundy anthers at the center. It’s a romantic, arresting palette that works beautifully in cottage gardens, mixed borders, or as a backdrop for brighter flowering companions.
Vigorous Climber With Early-Season Impact: A member of the early large-flowered group, Anna’s Choice starts the clematis season strong. It quickly covers vertical supports in a lush display of blooms, with vines that reach 6–8 feet tall. Prune lightly, as it flowers on both new and old wood.
In our EZ Pruning Guide, this variety is in the YELLOW pruning category. It blooms best on old vine. Use caution when pruning to retain healthy stems from last season for best flowering.
