Dahlias—these "dinnerplate" varieties in particular—are ideal for showing off, with massive, expressive, petal packed blooms. Our Philadelphia Mix is expertly designed for the most fashionable color combinations. Cafe au Lait is a dahlia that's got the attention of florists everywhere for wedding arrangements. The most popular shades of beige, peach and blush combine on teaming, soft petals for a light and lavish bloom. It pairs sensationally with the sunburst tones of Noordwijks Glorie. Then the deeper crimson color in Philadelphia's blooms adds some fire to this mix, really rounding it out beautifully. Enjoy them in a border or as cut flowers, they'll be raking in the compliments either way. There's just a few easy tips to follow to get your blooms to that coveted dinnerplate size—first, you'll want to divert all energy to that large central bloom. Snip off any side buds that form, so they don't sap vital energy. Be sure any fertilizer is low nitrogen, and compost isn't used, because excess nitrogen weakens dahlia stems and stunts bloom development. After that, just get your best vase ready for outstanding arrangements. Dahlia 'Philadelphia' (2), 'Café' au Lait' (1), 'Noordwijks Glorie' (2)
