Like the most magnificent sunset, these leaves bring a jaw-dropping palette to your landscape. Young foliage emerges as orange pink and matures to green, speckled and streaked with flecks of pink, cream and light green, all with a lovely purple underside. However, the performance is just as important as the looks, and ESK Sunset has plenty to boast about on both fronts. Most Japanese Maples need good shade to keep those delicate, colorful leaves protected. But this variety is actually quite strong in bright gardens, and its leaves won't burn in sunlight. In hot, deep south climates you'll need to give it some extra shade, but it'll be fine in sun to part shade in most areas of the country.
