Disappointing show

The mammoth mums remained dwarf mums since their planting in June 2010. It is spreading slowly as I could see by Dec'11 but the fall flowers were not nearly as spectacular as in the picture. I'm not sure if this is due to clay soil structure we have here. I will replace this with other plant.
