I love crape myrtles. They are used quite commonly here as landscaping trees in both residential and commericial properties. I just wish the landscapers would stop butchering them every year. They chop them off at about 3 feet tall. They are so much more attractive when allowed to get to their full size. My Grandparents had 3 (I don't know which breed) along the ditch in their front yard which were about 15-20 feet tall and when they bloomed it was spectacular! Plus it makes the trunks much more sturdy to let them grow. Theirs were more than a foot thick near the base!
