I bought this plant to replace a hibiscus that had died due to repeated ice damage, being run into by the snow plow, and heavy snow falling from the roof. This plant can be cut down to nothing at the end of the season, so winter damage is not an issue. The blooms are huge and the colors intense. I love it!
I am in Zone 4 in Southern Wisconsin and the tri-colored one is the only butterfly bush I could find for my zone. It came in a good package, but was only about 5" tall. I purchased this bush for my new home because it was said to be fast growing and my poor yard was so bare. I put it in full sun about 5 feet out from the corner of the house. In the first year it ended up growing to about 1 1/2 feet tall and round. The second year it is about 4 1/2 feet tall and about 5 1/2 feet wide! All three colors came, but in levels, not mixed in the picture; lavender on the bottom, magnetta in the middle and white on top. It still looks great and I have received many compliments from neighbors, family and friends. Love, love, love it!
P.S. I did try the Kaleidoscope bush (because it looked gorgeous) zone 5, and it did not grow in my zone 4. Stick to what they recommend.
Beautiful, incredibly fast-growing bush. In two growing seasons, it has easily quadrupled its size. Attracts lots of butterflies, so many that my neighbor has commented how much she enjoys the butterflies from her kitchen.
i had me one of these last year and it growed so fast and so big dat the air full of butterflys and humminbirds. This most pretty plant i planted in many a year.
I purchased 2 last March 09 to hide this utility pole on my front lawn and it grew so fast; I thought I was having a moment because it was so tiny when it arrived. Anyway, it's looking GREAT now and getting bigger for this summer. Love all the colors and butterflies.
I purchased this the summer of 2009, when it arrived I was a little deflated by its size. However in no time it grew to be a beautiful bush which continued to bloom all summer and well into the fall. The only drawback it only bloomed white with a few purple flowers but did attract quite a few different types of butterflies.
I had one of these bushes about 12 years ago at my old house. When we moved from that house it was to big to take so i had to leave it but it was a beautiful bush and I have been trying to find one ever since. It grow fairly fast and big around so do not put it by a walk way or side walk. I know from experience.
