Plant in the fall
Reviewed By:  Lisa Brodyaga (San Benito, Texas)
I planted a dawn redwood about ten years ago, and it has thrived. Ever since, I have struggled with them, and finally found the key. At least in climates with hot summers, (we are in what could be called Zone 9 and a half), they work better if you plant them in the fall, so that the roots have a chance to take hold before hot weather sets in.
